Ataraxia ("we", "our", "the app") is operated by Sheen Digital. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Data stored on your device only:

• Your first name (if you choose to provide it during onboarding)
• Reflection text you write in the app
• Liked/saved quotes
• Streak history and streak-freeze status
• Theme preference, notification schedule, and topic selections
• Onboarding profile choices

This data is stored locally using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). We do not transmit your reflections, liked quotes, or personal preferences to any server.

Anonymous analytics:

• We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics, hosted in the EU.
• Events tracked include: app opens, screens viewed, reflections completed (not the content), streaks, feature usage, and subscription events.
• We do not track the content of your reflections or any personally identifiable information (PII).
• Autocapture is disabled. We only track explicitly defined events.

Purchase data:

• Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by RevenueCat through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
• We do not have access to your payment details. All billing is handled by Apple or Google.
• RevenueCat provides us with anonymised purchase status so the app can unlock premium features.

2. Permissions We Request

• Notifications: To send you daily quote reminders at your chosen time. You can disable this at any time in the app settings or your device settings.
• Photo Library (save only): To allow you to save quote images to your camera roll when you choose to share a quote. We never read or access your existing photos.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the core app experience (quotes, reflections, streaks)
• To understand which features are used so we can improve the app
• To manage your subscription status

We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

• PostHog (analytics) — EU-hosted, GDPR compliant. PostHog Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat (purchases) — RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store (payments and distribution)

5. Data Retention

All personal data (reflections, preferences, streaks) is stored on your device. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed. Anonymous analytics data is retained by PostHog in accordance with their data retention policies.

6. Children's Privacy

Ataraxia is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete all your local data by uninstalling the app
• Disable analytics by revoking the app's network permissions on your device
• Disable notifications at any time
• Request information about what data we hold (which is limited to anonymous analytics)

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
